A water trip for the working youth of the Vitebsk region took place in the Gorodok district
— We aim to develop the traditions of mass tourism in the region, to arouse interest in natural attractions, and to popularize active recreation among young people, — said Yana Leonova, chief specialist of the department of ideological work, culture, and youth affairs of the district executive committee.
Six teams of two people each set off on the hike. They rafted from Lake Medesno to Lake Tiosto via the Ovsyanka River, and then headed to Shchelba Luka. Over two days, they not only covered about 20 km by boat but also identified the best in a series of competitions and contests. An individual challenge for the tourists was spending the night in a tent camp and cooking food over a campfire. As a result, representatives of Glubokoye took first place, Vitebsk took second, and Polotsk took third.
An extensive program was also planned for the tourists — laying flowers at the "Immortality" memorial complex in the district center, an excursion to the district local history museum, and a visit to the "Master of the Forest" memorial.
