Водолечебница и новые палаты. Центр реабилитации воинов-интернационалистов модернизировали в Витебске

The Medical Rehabilitation Department No. 2 after renovation, the hydrotherapy department after reconstruction with complete equipment replacement, as well as other departments have been opened at the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Center for Medical Rehabilitation for Disabled and Veterans of Combat Operations in Other States. The event was timed to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, which is celebrated on February 15, according to a BELTA correspondent.

The renovation was carried out last year, with over Br1.3 million invested. These funds were also used to replace the elevator equipment in the medical building and renovate two floors of the building. The wards, corridors, and elevator hall have been given a new look. In addition, the engineering communications and equipment have been completely updated here, particularly in the balneotherapy department. The premises have been furnished with new furniture, as have the double rooms, where patients also have a bathroom, shower, and TV at their disposal.

"As an Afghan veteran, I served from 1985 to 1987 in Jalalabad, in the 66th Brigade. I was an officer, a platoon commander. Due to the high physical demands of my duties, I require medical assistance as I age. This is my second visit here from Molodechno. The first time was before the renovation, so I have something to compare: then and now. Of course, everything is for the better. I came with my wife, and we were very pleased that the room is for two, with all the necessary conditions," said Andrey Kolganov.

The reconstruction has created modern, comfortable conditions for patient stays, expanded the range of medical services, and improved the quality of healthcare, noted the center's chief physician, Vladislav Muzhichenko. The renovated Medical Rehabilitation Department No. 2 is designed for 40 beds. Qualified assistance is provided here to veterans of combat operations.

"There is a directive from the Deputy Prime Minister to bring the old building, which we visited, into compliance by May 1st. Repairs are already 60% complete, and patients have been accommodated. A small phase remains – two floors and a staircase, which will be finished. Everything will be fully compliant, and the Deputy Prime Minister's directive will be fulfilled by May 1st," explained Mikhail Vishnevetsky, Head of the Main Department for Healthcare of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

He added that in addition to veterans of the war in Afghanistan and combat operations in other countries, the center provides multidisciplinary rehabilitation to the population of the northern region. "About a year ago, a department was opened for the rehabilitation of patients who have undergone brain or spine surgery, and individuals with neurological conditions. A third rehabilitation department has been established to help people recover, undergo early rehabilitation, and a small portion – late rehabilitation," said Mikhail Vishnevetsky.
The Vitebsk Regional Clinical Center for Medical Rehabilitation for Disabled Persons and Veterans of Combat Operations in Other States was established in April 1994. Initially, it was designed for 100 beds. In 2021, the institution underwent reconstruction, and a new building was opened in December. This allowed for the improvement and r

expand specialized assistance to both combatants in foreign territories and provide multidisciplinary rehabilitation to residents of the region. In January 2022, a new 60-bed department was opened at the center for the rehabilitation of patients with neurosurgical and orthopedic-traumatological profiles.

The center is equipped with modern medical and rehabilitation equipment. More than 200 employees work here, including 90 medical professionals. Last year, more than 3.2 thousand people improved their health at the center.
