Service members are assisting with the harvest in certain regions of the Vitebsk region
The consolidated platoon consists of representatives of the 72nd combined training center in Borisov, military units of Polotsk, Slutsk, and Zhodino. The unit is divided into two groups based in the village of Belenevo and directly in Senno at the district agroservice.
As Major Roman Sugako, commander of the consolidated platoon of the Guard, said, the military contingent arrived in the region on July 27; according to the initial plans, the assignment will last until September 1. For the army men, this is considered a field exercise, so they do not receive money for their work. The farms have taken over the provision of food and fuel. Servicemen wake up according to the schedule at 6:00 AM. In good weather, the working day is extended as much as possible, and drivers return late in the evening. Army vehicles transport grain, rapeseed, and straw.
For Private First Class Andrey Gladysh (in the photo), a contract soldier from one of the military units in Polotsk, this is his second harvest. Last year, he helped the villagers of Mstislavl district of Mogilev region. A native of Ushachi, he was drafted into the army at the age of 26; by that time, he had graduated from a pedagogical college in Polotsk and completed a correspondence course at a university in the capital, and had all driver's categories. After his conscription, he went into contract service and for the fourth year, when necessary, he drives MAZ, KAMAZ with a trailer, and a bus.
According to Vasily Cherednik, Chairman of the Senno District Executive Committee, thanks to the assistance of the Ministry of Defense, the region's agricultural enterprises have no problems with grain transportation. The servicemen will stay on assignment until the end of the harvest; they are provided with three meals a day and live in adequate living conditions.
By the way, in addition to Senno region, this year the military department is helping farmers in Minsk and Mstislavl districts. A total of 70 units of equipment and 114 servicemen are involved.
According to the regional agricultural sales department, as of yesterday, 163.6 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops have been harvested (49.7%), with 441.4 thousand tons threshed at a yield of 27 centners per hectare. 48.7 thousand tons, or 47.8% of the plan, have been delivered towards the state order.
