The issue of converting dormitories into rental housing is being discussed in the government - A. Kalinin
April 11, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The issue of converting dormitories into rental housing is being discussed in the government. This was announced today to journalists by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Anatoly Kalinin during his visit to the Large-Panel House-Building Plant of RUP "Vitebsk DSK", according to a BELTA correspondent.
He noted that there are many plans for rental housing. "We are proposing in the government, but this issue has not yet been finally resolved, to convert all dormitories into rental housing," Anatoly Kalinin said, emphasizing that Belarus plans to create such an amount of rental housing that will allow our people to freely migrate between cities in search of better jobs. "Work has always been the main factor. Unfortunately, it has developed in our country in such a way that where there is housing, there is work, even if there are not enough jobs in that region, a person is forced to live there," the Deputy Prime Minister stated.
"The whole of Europe has 80% of rental housing and only 20% is owned. We have 350 rental apartments that are rented out, which is less than 1%. It is planned to reach at least 2 million square meters of rental housing by the end of the five-year plan, which will be provided at affordable prices," Anatoly Kalinin added. -0-
