Eight teams from Belarus and Russia will compete for victory in the MTZ volleyball tournament in Vitebsk
The MTZ tournament among teams from enterprises and organizations of Belarus and Russia is being held in Vitebsk from June 15 to 18. The first games took place on Thursday, on the eve of the official opening of the competitions. The solemn ceremony will take place today at 10:00 AM on the territory of the Vitebsk football club. From 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, teams will compete on the court. The most intense competitive day will be June 17 (10 games are scheduled). On the final day of the tournament, June 18, at 1:00 PM, after four matches, the awards ceremony for the winners and the closing ceremony will be held.
Teams from Minsk, Vitebsk, and Gomel will compete for the right to be called the best. For the first time, Russian teams are participating in the tournament, which gives the competition an international status. "We held such competitions for the first time in April last year, then in December. We see the number of participants gradually increasing: if the first tournament gathered five teams, seven participated in the second, and now eight teams are showcasing their skills. This year, we are hosting guests from Samara – these are students from the local university. The Vitebsk State Polytechnic College is also represented. Students were involved to assess their prospects, as well as for possible future employment," explained the organizers. "Teams from Serbia and Uzbekistan were planned to participate, but they could not come for various reasons."
Such competitions, the organizers emphasized, help to influence the popularity of volleyball as a sport and a healthy lifestyle. In addition, the tournament helps to unite teams and establish closer cooperation between the participating enterprises and organizations.
Among the organizers of the tournament are the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the Belarusian Volleyball Federation, the Minsk Volleyball Club, and the Vitebsk Tractor Spare Parts Plant.
