Eight enterprises of the Vitebsk region became laureates of the "Best Exporter" competition
The award ceremony for the laureates was held today at the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The competition is held annually by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry jointly with interested government bodies, regional executive committees, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Hi-Tech Park Administration, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange, and public organizations. As noted by the Chairman of the BelCCI, Vladimir Ulakhovich, the past few years have been challenging for enterprises due to pandemic-related restrictions, as well as external pressure on Belarus. "The main thing we see in this situation is that enterprises are withstanding the pressure, as evidenced by the foreign economic activity indicators. Based on the results of 6 months of 2021, we managed to ensure a positive trade balance of about $1.8 billion, and in 9 months, we surpassed the $2 billion mark. This is the merit of exporting organizations," emphasized Vladimir Ulakhovich.

According to him, as a result, Belarus, a small country by global standards, is among the largest food exporters, ranking among the top five in dairy products and among the top three in some other types. Products are supplied to 96 countries. The country also manages to increase the total volume of supplies to foreign markets, which is currently approaching $6 billion.
Vladimir Ulakhovich also named the growth in the number of exporters among small and medium-sized businesses as another positive indicator. "Over the past 5 years, more than 200 new enterprises in the non-state sector of the economy have started exporting products in the Vitebsk region alone, and this is an additional driver for increasing activity in foreign markets," the Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is confident.
Assistant to the President - Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Anatoly Linevich noted that many young people were among the representatives of the laureate enterprises present at the ceremony. "This means that the Vitebsk region has a future. Even though the external situation is indeed challenging, the more difficult it is, the more challenges we face, the stronger we become. Today, Belarus is respected worldwide, partly due to the development of exports. This is a very significant success, it indicates that enterprises are developing in the right direction, and the state has created all the conditions for businesses of all forms of ownership to operate," Anatoly Linevich emphasized.
