A criminal case has been initiated for violation of labor protection rules at the Orsha Meat Canning Plant
As it became known, during the sterilization of finished products in an autoclave, the lid blew off with an ejection of steam, water, and metal cans of the enterprise's canned products. This caused bodily injuries to five employees who were in close proximity to the autoclave. A 50-year-old man and four women aged 31 to 55 were injured. Currently, two people are in intensive care, one of them is in serious condition.
Investigators conducted a repeated inspection of the incident site, seized pressure and temperature control mechanisms for emergency steam release. Witnesses are being interviewed, and technical documentation is being studied to establish an objective picture of the incident.
The Investigative Committee of the Vitebsk Region has initiated a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 306 (violation of labor protection rules) of the Criminal Code. Special attention will be paid to clarifying the causes and conditions that contributed to the incident.
