For the first time, 1.5 thousand children visited the main Christmas tree of the Vitebsk region

December 24, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. For the first time, 1.5 thousand boys and girls from various corners of the Dvina region received an invitation to the main Christmas tree of the Vitebsk region, a BELTA correspondent reports. Among them are excellent students, active participants in amateur arts, winners of republican subject Olympiads and various sports competitions, children from large families, and pupils of orphanages. Approximately two-thirds of all participants in the "governor's Christmas tree" arrived from district centers and villages on December 23. An excursion around pre-holiday Vitebsk was organized for them. The young guests of the city visited the main city Christmas tree on Victory Square and helped Santa Claus light up thousands of lights on the forest beauty. The celebration continued today at the Ice Palace, where the chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, congratulated the young residents of the region on the upcoming New Year and Christmas. He noted that the state considers human well-being its main goal and will create conditions for the self-realization of every citizen. "Adults, your parents have worked hard in the past year to make our country even richer and more beautiful. But adults face more challenging plans, and you, their children, should help them with your good studies and your talents," emphasized Alexander Kosinets. He thanked the young residents of the region who have already contributed to the glory of their native land – these are 219 laureates of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus, 90 winners of republican and international subject Olympiads. The governor also expressed gratitude to their teachers. Answering journalists' questions, Alexander Kosinets said that the purpose of holding such celebrations is to show children how beautiful the country they live in is, how much labor is valued and respected here. "It will not be long before the current participants of the celebration grow up and, like their parents, will make our Belarus even better," Alexander Kosinets is convinced. In the Vitebsk region, about Br400 million has been allocated for the preparation of New Year's celebrations for children. The funds are intended for the purchase of gifts for orphans from orphanages, pupils of orphanages, foster and guardianship families, for the trip of the region's children's delegation to the New Year's celebration in Minsk, as well as for holding the regional New Year's celebration. In the Vitebsk region, as in all other regions of the country, active preparations are already underway to celebrate the most anticipated winter holiday. The regional committee of the BRSM has launched its traditional campaigns "Do Good," "Our Children!", "Into the New Year with a Kind Heart!", "Share Your Soul's Warmth," aimed at providing assistance to children in specialized educational institutions, in hospitals, and those raised in large and low-income families. Charitable pre-New Year's campaigns will be held by the regional organization of the Belarusian Women's Union. -0-
