For the first time, contenders for the title "Teacher of the Year of the Vitebsk Region" will give master classes

The regional final of the republican competition "Teacher of the Year" will be held from April 11 to 16 in Vitebsk with the participation of twenty-six teachers who won the district and city qualifying rounds. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the regional institute for the development of education. The winner of the final and two laureates of the competition will have the right to represent the region at the final stage of the competition in Minsk. This year, contestants will have to face serious challenges on their way to victory. Tough competition has already emerged at the initial stages - about 1.5 thousand teachers took part in the qualifying rounds. The teachers who reached the final entered into a competition in absentia - one of the competition events of the final is an in absentia round, during which the jury evaluates the presented educational projects, their author's didactic systems, and video lessons. Then, in face-to-face competition, participants will demonstrate their intellectual strength, technological efficiency, and leadership qualities in the "Creative Self-Presentation", "Psychological and Pedagogical Testing", and "Open Lesson" competitions. Based on the results of these tests, thirteen teachers will be selected who will continue to compete for the main prize. For the first time this year, the competition events include a "Master Class", as well as the "Presentation and Defense of Author's Pedagogical Experience" competition, which will be the superfinal of the regional stage of "Teacher of the Year" and will be held with the participation of only six contestants, the main contenders for the title of "Teacher of the Year of Vitebsk Region-2011". The expansion of the content of the competition tasks makes it possible to impose in-depth requirements on participants, who must prove themselves to be bright, creative individuals and in the future contribute to the development of science and pedagogical practice, the organizers noted. This year, among the participants of the regional final of the competition are five primary school teachers, four history and social studies teachers, three teachers each of geography, biology and chemistry, physics and astronomy. Five male teachers became finalists, the work experience of the finalists ranges from 3 to 27 years. The organizers of the regional final of the "Teacher of the Year" competition are the education department of the regional executive committee and the Vitebsk Regional Institute for the Development of Education. -0-
