For the first time in the Vitebsk region, a six-thousandth crew has appeared

The first crew in the history of the Vitebsk region to harvest six thousand tons was congratulated in the field by the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev. The record volume of grain, leguminous and other crops was threshed by the machine operators of the agricultural production cooperative "Zadneprovsky" of the Orsha Khleboprodukt, Sergey Grekov and Maxim Gerasimets.

For several years now, the agrarians have been showing decent results, working with full dedication and minimal technical downtime. Today, they are the true heroes of the 2019 harvest, an example to follow. This was emphasized by the head of the region, presenting them with well-deserved awards and setting a target of at least 7 thousand tons in 2020.

– This year's grain corn harvest was pleasing, – noted Sergey Gerasimets, General Director of OJSC "Orsha Grain Processing Plant", not without pride. – There are plots with a yield of 120 c/ha. I admit, we were afraid to focus on grain corn and expand the sown areas for it. The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee set us on the right track and set the tone. And now, for the third season, we are getting excellent feed for cattle. This year, we purchased a mobile Romill M2 Plus roller mill for wet grain with high productivity. Now we mill 400 tons of grain corn per day. This allows us to harvest the crop in a short time, as well as save on drying. We plan to increase the areas for grain corn.

It is noteworthy that as of the morning of October 25, the agrarians of the Vitebsk region (taking into account the 25 thousand tons of corn threshed) have surpassed the mark of 1 million tons of grain.

– We worked well, there is a result, – noted Boris Efremov, Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. – And it indicates that next year it is worth working even more actively in this direction. – We have prepared a good foundation for winter crops. The region needs to reach a figure of 150 thousand tons of cereal crops and get a difference of 40 thousand from corn. In the Orsha land, one can have a yield of 170-180 thousand tons of grain. What will this give? A significant increase in dairy farming, pork and beef production. Accordingly, the load on our processing enterprises will increase, and added value will grow.

Boris Efremov expressed confidence that this year the region will surpass last year's corn harvest of 35 thousand tons.

– Residents of Orsha are doubly lucky: they have wonderful fertile fields with large contours, – emphasized the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee. – But the land will not yield without the working person. People cultivating it must be supported and encouraged, given the opportunity to fully realize their skills and abilities.
