Doctors in Vitebsk have mastered the tactics of leading world clinics in operations for diverticular disease
In the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Specialized Center, a team of doctors performed surgery on a 50-year-old patient for sigmoid colon diverticular disease complicated by pelvic abscess and infiltrate. The relevant information was published on the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Health.
"In the first stage, under laparoscopic and ultrasound guidance, abscess drainage and conservative treatment were performed. In the second stage, after a month, laparoscopic sigmoid colon resection with intracorporeal anastomosis will be performed. Previously, such operations ended with sigmoid resection and stoma formation. The tactics used in leading clinics in Russia and other countries have now been successfully mastered by Vitebsk specialists," the department's message states.
Over the past ten years, there has been an increase in this pathology (the number of hospitalizations worldwide is up to 90 per 100,000 population). "The introduction of minimally invasive surgery techniques allows for the utmost minimization of surgical trauma," the Ministry of Health emphasized.
