All park areas and squares in Vitebsk will be transformed as a result of the subbotnik
All parks and public gardens in Vitebsk will be transformed as a result of the clean-up day on October 24, the local city executive committee reported.
Residents of Vitebsk will participate in the city-wide clean-up day to help tidy up streets, areas around their enterprises and organizations, and prepare city facilities for the autumn-winter period. Special attention will be paid to cleaning and improving parks and public gardens, and recreation areas that are most frequented by people: residents themselves and guests, who always note the beauty and cleanliness of Vitebsk's landscapes. Representatives of the leadership and employees of the city executive committee will also take part in the improvement efforts – they will be involved in planting trees in the Park of the 70th Anniversary of Victory, located in the Medtsentr microdistrict. As explained by Valentin Tsvetkov, First Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, during one of the previous clean-up days, the Alley of the 70th Anniversary of Victory was established here, but some of the trees did not take root. Therefore, the city leadership will personally compensate for the "losses" in the diversity of tree species in the alley.
Money earned on the clean-up day at workplaces and through participation in activities not related to production and service provision will be transferred to the charitable account of UKPP "Vitebsk City Housing and Communal Services". Subsequently, these funds will be used for the improvement and development of the city, as well as for the reconstruction of old and creation of new works of monumental and decorative art, and architectural forms. The City Council of Deputies is considering the idea of holding relevant competitions.
