All districts of the Vitebsk region have started sowing winter rapeseed
July 29, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. All districts of the Vitebsk region have started sowing winter rapeseed, Ivan Fedorov, deputy chairman of the regional executive committee's agriculture and food department, told a BELTA correspondent.
As of July 29, about 2.7 thousand hectares have been sown, which is 3.1% of the plan. Some farms are just starting to sow this crop. In the coming days, the region expects to reach mass sowing. This year, it is planned to sow winter rapeseed on an area of about 86 thousand hectares.
The thunderstorms that occurred on July 28 negatively affected the pace of the harvesting campaign in the region. Thus, if before yesterday, 5% of the sown areas were harvested daily in the region, then on July 28, only 2% of the grain crop could be harvested, Ivan Fedorov noted. At the same time, 19.3 thousand tons of grain were threshed, which is more than twice less than in previous days. Farms in nine districts of the region could not harvest even 1% of the areas. In Ushachi, Beshenkovichi and Lepel districts, only 38 ha, 85 ha and 95 ha were harvested on July 28, respectively (on the previous day, 576 ha, 924 ha and 791 ha were harvested in these districts, respectively).
In total, in the region, grain and leguminous crops have been harvested on an area of over 170 thousand hectares, or almost 38% of the plan. Over 415 thousand tons of grain have been threshed, with a yield of 24.3 centners per hectare. In terms of harvesting pace, farms in Liozno (46.5% of areas harvested), Senno (45.9%) and Lepel (45.1%) districts are leading. The highest yield of grain (an average of 33.5 centners per hectare) was obtained in farms in the Orsha district. -0-
