All districts of the Vitebsk region have started harvesting winter rapeseed
All districts of the Vitebsk region have started harvesting winter rapeseed, as reported by Viktor Gutorov, Chairman of the regional organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Agricultural Workers.
As of July 19, 4 thousand hectares have been harvested in the region, which is 15.8% of the plan. The largest areas of this crop are to be harvested in Dubrovensky (about 3 thousand hectares, 0.5% harvested) and Orshansky (2.7 thousand hectares, 2.2% harvested) districts, and the smallest in Rossony and Braslavsky districts (110 hectares and 138 hectares, respectively). The average yield is 11.7 centners per hectare. The highest yields are noted in Liozno (17.8 centners/ha), Verkhnedvinsk (17.2 centners/ha), Polotsk (15.5 centners/ha), and Gorodok (15.4 centners/ha) districts.
"It is planned to complete the work within the next week. From two to seven combines go out to the fields daily in various farms, however, the harvest is hampered by rains," noted Viktor Gutorov. Other agricultural work is also actively underway in the region.
Agrarians in almost all districts have begun harvesting cereal grass seed crops: 26.8% of the plan has been harvested with an average yield of 1.7 centners per hectare. Glyphosate application is underway. Polotsk, Vitebsk, and Lepel districts have gained the highest momentum. Plowing for sowing winter cruciferous crops is unfolding. 6.5 thousand hectares have already been plowed, which is 12% of the plan. Fodder grass procurement continues.
