All districts of the Vitebsk region have begun spring plowing of fields

Spring plowing of fields is underway in all districts of the Vitebsk region, as reported by the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee.

Spring field work is gaining momentum in the region - tractors with plows and soil cultivation units have gone out to the fields in all districts, with 4% of the planned areas (7,369 hectares) processed. The number of farms that have started sowing is increasing every day. Seeders are now working in the fields of half of the region's districts. About 1.8 thousand hectares have been sown with spring grains. Farmers in the region are carrying out undersowing of perennial grasses - overall in the region, work has been completed on 37% of the areas, and in Beshenkovichi and Dubrovno districts, this work has already been fully completed.

The region is experiencing warm weather, which allows farmers to start sowing, which is currently being carried out selectively on light sandy soils. As for the plans for spring sowing, the grain group in the region has been maintained at almost the same level as last year - 398.5 thousand hectares, or 47.1% of the structure. Rapeseed is expected to occupy 106 thousand hectares. The total sown area of agricultural crops in the region will be 846 thousand hectares this year.
