V. Tsalko considers it advisable to limit spring hunting for birds in certain territories of Belarus
September 30, Vitebsk region /Natalia Ilyicheva - BELTA/. It is advisable to introduce restrictions on spring bird hunting in certain territories of Belarus with international status into the Rules for Hunting Management and Hunting. This primarily concerns specially protected natural areas. This opinion was expressed by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus Vladimir Tsalko today at a seminar organized by the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, BELTA correspondent reports.
"Banning spring bird hunting is a pressing issue with broad public resonance. Discussions on it have been ongoing for almost 20 years. During this time, the population of waterfowl has significantly decreased in the republic," the minister said.
As an example, he added that in Ukraine, where spring hunting is banned in transboundary areas in the upper reaches of the Pripyat River, the population of gray geese is about 500 pairs, while in Belarus it is only 10-20 pairs. -0-
