Vyacheslav Durnov: it is important for sports industry workers not only to train high-class athletes, but also to foster patriots

In the past year, athletes from the Vitebsk region won 49 medals at international competitions, including 13 gold medals. At the same time, coaches in the northern region need not only to train high-class athletes but also to pay attention to other aspects of their work. This was discussed at the final meeting of the board of the department of sports and tourism of the regional executive committee.

As a reminder, at last year's Olympics in Paris, the Vitebsk trampoline school once again demonstrated the best result. Participants of the board noted that the golden success of Ivan Litvinovich is an excellent example for young people of what can be achieved through diligent work.

- Olympic medals are very significant and pleasant, - noted the Deputy Chairman of the regional executive committee Vyacheslav Durnov. – At the same time, great attention must be paid to the work of children's and youth sports schools. All our sports officials must understand that if their diplomas say "Coach-Educator," then they must raise a personality, a patriot of their country.

As Vyacheslav Durnov emphasized, great attention should also be paid to sports infrastructure.

- In 2025, work will continue on the construction of new, as well as the modernization and reconstruction of existing sports facilities, - said the Deputy Chairman of the regional executive committee. - For example, we are starting the construction of a sports and recreation complex in the Bilevo microdistrict in the regional center. At the same time, sports infrastructure requires constant improvement. We must make every effort to ensure that our sports facilities are attractive.

Also, at the board meeting, the best employees of the sports industry of the Vitebsk region for the past year were awarded.
