ELECTIONS-2015. More than 10.3 thousand people joined the precinct election commissions in the Vitebsk region
More than 10.3 thousand people have been included in the precinct election commissions in the Vitebsk region, said Dmitry Khoma, Chairman of the regional commission for the election of the President of Belarus.
In the Vitebsk region, 11,442 candidates were nominated for inclusion in the precinct commissions, of which 10,373 candidates were approved. From delegates from citizens by submitting applications, 4,134 people were selected (39.9%), from labor collectives - 1,677 (16.2%). Very broad and numerous representation of public associations - 4,562 (44%). Among them are the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, public associations "Belaya Rus" and "BRSM", the Belarusian Public Association of Veterans, the Belarusian Women's Union, and others. Also, 91 representatives of political parties were included in the precinct election commissions: the Belarusian Left Party "A Just World", the Republican Party of Labor and Justice, the United Civic Party, the Communist Party of Belarus, the Belarusian Agrarian Party. From the Vitebsk public association "Self-government and Society", 4 people were included, two of whom are members of the BNF Party. "As you can see, a very broad composition of political parties has been formed. The necessary representation in the election commissions of at least one third from public associations and political parties is ensured. So we have fulfilled the main task - compliance with the election legislation. Organizational meetings of the commissions, at which their chairmen, deputy chairmen and secretaries will be elected, should take place within three days. But already now, the members of the election commissions are engaged in meticulous and responsible work - clarifying the voter lists. The clarified lists must be submitted for citizens' review no later than September 25," Dmitry Khoma added. A total of 848 polling stations have been established in the region, and the same number of commissions have been formed. At the same time, there has been a reduction in the number of polling stations, mainly in rural areas - there are more than 130 fewer than in the previous campaign for the election of the President of Belarus. However, at the same time, the authorities tried to preserve the established boundaries of the polling stations and their locations as much as possible, so as not to
to cause unnecessary inconvenience to voters, concluded Dmitry Khoma. Also, the next important task facing the regional election commission will be to verify the signatures for the candidates. The preliminary commission meeting to establish their number is scheduled for September 2.
