ELECTIONS-2015. 848 polling stations have been established in the Vitebsk region
In the Vitebsk region, 848 polling stations have been established for the Presidential elections, as reported by the regional commission for the election of the President of Belarus. Of these, 53 polling stations are located on the territory of sanatoriums, health resorts, rest homes, and hospitals and are closed; 1 polling station is located in a military unit (Oktyabrsky District of Vitebsk).
In this election campaign, 1 new polling station has been established in the region, located in the new residential microdistrict of Vitebsk - Bilevo.
Overall, compared to the previous campaign (elections of deputies to local councils), the number of polling stations in the Vitebsk region has decreased – there were 868 then. This is due to a decrease in the rural population. "All conditions will be created in the region for residents of remote and sparsely populated villages to vote. Issues of providing necessary transport are already being worked out so that voters can easily get to their polling stations. In addition, citizens will traditionally be able to exercise their right to vote at home," the commission noted.
Currently, precinct commissions are being formed, and the collection of signatures in support of presidential candidates continues. "No complaints have been received from initiative groups," the regional commission stated.
