ELECTIONS-2015. In the Vitebsk region, the prosecutor's office did not receive substantiated complaints regarding the election campaign

No substantiated appeals regarding the election campaign in the Vitebsk region have been received by the prosecutor's office. This was announced by the Deputy Prosecutor of the Vitebsk region, Georgy Korenko, before the start of a coordination meeting on ensuring legality and public safety in the region during the presidential election campaign.

"The election campaign is proceeding in strict accordance with the current legislation. A working group has been established at the regional prosecutor's office, which analyzes information materials, monitors the work of local executive committees and territorial commissions, and conducts an overall situation monitoring," said Georgy Korenko.

Prosecutor's offices in districts and cities are operating in the same mode. "There are no complaints regarding violations of electoral legislation or the emergence of any situations that would require the intervention of the prosecutor's office," he stated. "Only 3 appeals from citizens have been received by the prosecutor's office; they have been checked and found to be unsubstantiated."

He emphasized that at all stages of the election campaign, the main function of the prosecutor's office is to supervise the enforcement of legislation. "During the upcoming campaign period, we will also strictly monitor the situation and, if violations are detected, take response measures in accordance with the letter of the law," the deputy prosecutor noted.

Directly during the election period, the prosecutor's office intends to work in an enhanced mode. "Duty shifts will be organized both at the regional prosecutor's office and in each district. So, any citizen will be able to contact us with their questions and remarks," Georgy Korenko added.
