The main thing is that today Belarus is peaceful and calm, everything else is secondary. This opinion was expressed to journalists by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, at a polling station after voting.

The head of the region arrived at the polling station in the House of Culture of the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine early in the morning and was the fourth to vote (the first were two students of the academy and a local resident). Nikolai Sherstnev talked with the students at the polling station and congratulated them on participating in the presidential elections.

"When choosing a candidate, I was guided by the main criterion that the country is calm and peaceful. Everything else is secondary: one can live a little worse or better, it mainly depends on us. But peace in Belarus is the foundation. We know the price of peace: every third person died, I would not want this to happen again," said Nikolai Sherstnev and expressed hope that the residents of the region will make a balanced choice.

The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee came to vote in the morning because there is still work ahead. "The governor has no days off. We need to go to the districts, see how the harvesting is going, there are many other issues," added Nikolai Sherstnev.
