The nomination of candidates for the House of Representatives has begun in Belarus

The nomination of candidates for deputies of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the seventh convocation will be held in Belarus from September 8 to October 7.

Any person who has reached the age of 21 has the right to claim a seat in parliament. It is also necessary to permanently reside in Belarus and have no criminal record. A candidate for deputy can be nominated in three ways: by collecting signatures, by a political party, or by a work collective. The legislation allows for the choice of one or more methods.

In order to be nominated by collecting signatures, at least one thousand signatures must be collected in the territory of one's constituency. This is done by an initiative group, which must consist of at least ten people. The groups are registered with the district election commissions, which have already been formed and have begun their work.

Another method of nomination is at the congresses of political parties. There are 15 registered political parties in the country. They can nominate candidates in all 110 constituencies, regardless of the presence of their organizational structures there.

A work collective has the right to nominate one candidate in the constituency where the enterprise is located. In this case, the enterprise must employ at least 300 people.

Elections to the House of Representatives are scheduled for November 17, and to the Council of the Republic – for November 7.
