The detectability of corruption crimes in the Vitebsk region increased by 15% in January-March.

April 28, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The detection of corruption offenses in the Vitebsk region in January-March increased by 15% compared to the same period last year, to 122 cases. This was announced today at a coordination meeting on combating corruption by the Deputy Prosecutor of the Vitebsk region, Alexander Sidorovich, according to a BELTA correspondent. The trend of increasing the detection rate of corruption manifestations is noted even without taking into account Article 427 of the Criminal Code of Belarus ("Official forgery"), which was excluded from the composition of corruption offenses from January 1 of this year, Alexander Sidorovich noted. In the structure of crimes, the main share is bribery, theft in large and especially large sizes. The latter cause the greatest economic damage to enterprises, organizations, and ultimately to the state, the deputy prosecutor emphasized. Therefore, one of the most important areas for employees of the prosecutor's office and law enforcement agencies is preventive work. Over the past year, with their participation, more than 50 meetings of city and district executive committees, three coordination meetings at the regional level, numerous round tables, debates, and speeches in labor collectives were held. Significant attention is also paid to the problem of compensating for the economic damage caused when disclosing corruption offenses. If for 2010 this amount, taking into account the seizure of property, was actually fully compensated, then in the first quarter of this year, only 26% of Br600 million was compensated, Alexander Sidorovich stated. -0-
