This was announced today at a press conference by the head of the education department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Ivan Shchurok, BELTA correspondent reports. All graduation balls will take place in educational institutions of the region on June 11-12. The education department is against holding these events at restaurants and other catering facilities, as alcohol sales are possible there. "Alcohol consumption at the graduation party is unacceptable, as yesterday's schoolchildren are still largely children. Moreover, it discredits teachers," Ivan Shchurok emphasized. At the same time, the absence of alcoholic beverages on the graduates' tables does not mean depriving them of their celebration. "Everything will be organized in a fun, colorful and bright way," noted the representative of the regional executive committee. The academic year ends on May 31, and the last bell will ring for students of basic and secondary general education schools in the Vitebsk region on May 29. About 23,000 students will graduate. -0-
