An order to this effect has been issued by the regional education department, Ivan Shchurok, head of the education department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent. This year, for the first time after a long break, graduates, after receiving their certificates, will celebrate their entry into adult life in their home schools. The regional education department has allowed buffets and sweet tables to be held in the canteens and cafes of educational institutions in honor of receiving their first document of education. If the number of seats in school canteens is insufficient, it is possible to rent premises in public catering establishments, Ivan Shchurok added. However, both in schools and cafes, there is a strict ban on graduates consuming alcohol, including champagne. Heads of city and district education departments and school principals will bear personal responsibility for the implementation of this order. Class teachers will accompany their graduates throughout the celebration and, according to tradition, will meet the dawn with them. Police officers will also monitor order at the graduation parties. The education department recommended holding the ceremonies in honor of the certificate awarding on June 12. This year, 13,288 young men and women will receive documents on general secondary education in the Vitebsk region, of which 6,951 are graduates of XI grades. 28,454 graduates will receive certificates of completion of basic school. -0-
