Embroidered shirts for good luck will be given to newborns in Vitebsk region maternity hospitals as part of a BRSM campaign

The "Gift an Infant an Embroidered Shirt" campaign will start in the Vitebsk region tomorrow, as announced by Vyacheslav Khrol, acting first secretary of the regional committee of the BRSM.

The youth initiative, symbolized by a protective shirt with national flavor, will take place at the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Maternity Hospital. BRSM activists will greet happy parents and babies with Belarusian songs and poems, and will also present souvenirs with elements of Belarusian ornament.

– Since ancient times, Belarusians embroidered clothes with a characteristic ornament, turning them into a kind of amulet, which over time became a symbol of the nation. We want such a symbol to protect every little Belarusian from birth; our gifts carry this very message, – explained Vyacheslav Khrol.

Ceremonial events will also be held in maternity hospitals and maternity departments of Lepel, Orsha, Novopolotsk, Tolochin, Postavy, Chashniki, Braslav, Verkhnedvinsk, and others.

Information from "VV": The "Gift an Infant an Embroidered Shirt" campaign is held within the framework of the republican youth project "Belarus – a Source of Inspiration," aimed at expanding the cultural environment and spiritual consciousness of Belarusians, preserving the connecting thread of generations, promoting the development and implementation of youth socially significant initiatives in all regions of Belarus and beyond, and mutual enrichment of experience in preserving traditional cultural values.

All events held within the framework of the project are united by the idea that the source of inspiration for creativity, development, and creative work of modern Belarusians is the richest traditions and history of Belarus, the greatest cultural heritage of past generations, and love and respect for the Motherland.
