A high-tech power substation is being built by the Chinese in the Postavy district
An unusual construction site has appeared in the Postavy district, near the border with Braslav. From eight in the morning until six in the evening, without days off, people in bright special clothing are working hard there. These are workers from distant China who have come to Postavy region to build a distribution substation near the village of Birvita, which will connect the existing power grids with the future Belarusian nuclear power plant in Ostrovets.
The Chinese have already begun preparing the site for the facility, a production base, and a residential complex for 200 people. This is exactly how many will be involved in the work at this site. The substation is planned to be commissioned in 2016. With its commissioning, about thirty jobs will be created for the residents of the region.
"Foreigners will be working, but they cannot do without the help of Postavy residents," commented Pavel Stanyush, Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee. "Even now, during the preparatory work, the Chinese are being assisted by equipment from DSU-33, transport enterprise No. 17, and the Postavy land reclamation systems enterprise. When the construction gets underway, the volume of joint work will increase several times."
Undoubtedly, this will be a modern, high-tech substation. The Chinese have already proven themselves at construction sites in Belarus. Not long ago, they erected power units at Minsk CHPP-5 and Novolukomlskaya GRES. And another Chinese company will build a hydroelectric power station on the Western Dvina River by the end of 2016 – RUP "Vitebskenergo" has signed a contract with them.
