Highly professional staff is the basis of effective production - Nikolai Sherstnev
When addressing the task of increasing production efficiency, highly professional personnel play a leading role. This opinion was shared with a BELTA correspondent by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, following a meeting on the development of the region's industrial complex.
One of the key problems facing industrial enterprises in the region at the current stage is a personnel shortage. This was discussed at the meeting by almost all the enterprise managers who spoke. "Industry is gaining momentum, there is production growth, and personnel are needed for further development. There is currently a high demand for professionals. The key tasks for production are cost optimization and cost reduction. Personnel play a very important role in solving these issues. Only highly professional personnel are capable of creating an efficient production. They need to be purposefully trained through joint efforts of enterprises and educational institutions," believes Nikolai Sherstnev.
Industrial enterprises account for over 30% of the Vitebsk region's gross regional product. In 2017, growth in industrial output was observed across most types of economic activity. This allowed for an increase in the industrial production index compared to the 2016 level by the end of the year. For the first time in the last 3 years, it exceeded 100% and amounted to 103.4% (excluding energy and OJSC Naftan). In January-March 2018, industrial products worth Br3.7 billion were produced at current prices, or 139.5% compared to January-March of the previous year. The industrial production index was 115.2%.
