Almost 80% of teachers in the Vitebsk region have the highest qualification
September 24, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. In the Vitebsk region, the quality of education is ensured by highly qualified personnel. This opinion was expressed today by the head of the education department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Ivan Shchurok, during a direct line with the region's population, a BELTA correspondent reports.
"78% of teachers in the Vitebsk region have the highest qualification category, which can only be obtained by being a true professional. In addition, 91% of our teachers have higher education," Ivan Shchurok emphasized. He also noted that the remaining teachers are constantly working to improve their qualifications. For example, currently 1.4 thousand teachers in the region are studying for higher education through distance learning at various universities.
The high-quality training of teachers allows for significant results in children's education, as evidenced by numerous awards won by schoolchildren of the Vitebsk region at subject-specific republican and international Olympiads.
Parents also play a significant role in children receiving a quality education, Ivan Shchurok is confident. According to him, in the Vitebsk region, 62% of parents want their children to get higher education and are comprehensively involved with them to achieve this goal. The result of the joint work of parents and teachers is best demonstrated by the figures: 57% of the region's school graduates enter universities. "This is a very good indicator," emphasized the head of the regional education department.
The organization of quality education in the region is also facilitated by the constant attention to this issue from the authorities. Large funds are allocated annually to the education system. This year, their volume in the region amounted to Br780 billion. In 2011, according to preliminary data, funding may exceed Br1 trillion.
Almost a month has passed since the beginning of the academic year. Today's direct line aimed to identify problems that arose with the start of children's education or were not resolved during the preparation for September 1. Over three hours, the head of the regional education department received about 20 calls from parents and teachers. People were concerned about the shortage of kindergartens in the new residential area Bilevo-1 of the regional center, the high enrollment in classes, the organization of the educational process, catering, and student benefits in universities. Parents were perplexed by the creation of two first-grade classes at one of Vitebsk's schools, where boys and girls are taught separately. All appeals will be carefully considered with the adoption of appropriate measures, emphasized Ivan Shchurok. -0-
