The exhibition of Korean art is presented in Vitebsk for the first time

Выставка искусства Кореи впервые представлена в Витебске
Exhibition from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is presented for the first time at "Slavyansky Bazaar in Vitebsk".

The exhibition has not only significantly expanded the festival's geography to the east but has also become another step in the development of cultural cooperation between Belarus and the DPRK.

As part of "Slavyansky Bazaar," visitors to the Museum of Local Lore can see over 220 works – silk embroidery paintings from the Pyongyang Embroidery Institute, Korean porcelain, shell and feather mosaic panels, ceramics, photos, books, and postage stamps.

Chon Se Nal, a representative of the Embassy of the DPRK in the Republic of Belarus, said that Vitebsk is the first regional center to have the opportunity to get acquainted with the decorative and applied arts and the work of contemporary folk masters; prior to this, the exhibition was only displayed in Minsk. He also noted that this project of the DPRK Embassy in Belarus, within the framework of "Slavyansky Bazaar," is dedicated to two significant socio-political events in both countries – the recent celebration of Belarus Independence Day and the 70th anniversary of the DPRK's formation, which will be celebrated in September.

– Contact between our countries has existed since the time of the USSR. The DPRK was among the first countries to recognize Belarus's Independence, and in 2016, the DPRK Embassy opened here, which testifies to the development of relations with your peaceful and calm republic. Our country is interested in expanding contacts with Belarus, and this exhibition is a good example of cultural cooperation, which I hope will continue. This will help shape Belarusians' correct perception of the hardworking and talented people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, – said Mr. Chon Se Nal.

The Head of the Department of Culture of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Petr Podgursky, in turn, invited guests to get acquainted with national Belarusian traditions and crafts, widely represented at the artisans' fair in festival Vitebsk, and also expressed hope that within the framework of such projects, our national art and culture will be seen by residents of Pyongyang and other cities of the DPRK.
