The exhibition 'People's Artist of Belarus Pavel Maslenikov' is taking place in Vitebsk
The exhibition of works by People's Artist of Belarus Pavel Vasilievich Maslenikov, held at the Vitebsk Art Museum, is one of the republican events. It is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the master's birth. Here are presented 47 works of the artist from the collection of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, from the collection of the Mogilev Regional Art Museum named after P.V. Maslenikov, and from the artist's family collection.
Pavel Vasilievich is a Belarusian artist, painter, art critic, and teacher. The artist is connected with Vitebsk by his studies at the Vitebsk Art College, which he graduated from in 1938.
- Pavel Vasilievich was a unique person, extraordinary, of great stature, with his famous beret and very strict. He was strict with future art critics regarding the writing of texts. He had an absolutely phenomenal memory and an amazing ability to communicate with people. He was never afraid to write anything. He had a complete vision of how the canvas would end. I attended some of his painting classes and saw how he demonstrated to students. His hand would just pass over and that was it – stop. Maslenikov has been here. This characterizes him as a person of very strong talent and powerful inner erudition, - says Gorbunov Igor Vasilievich, a student of P.V. Maslenikov. DSC04561
