A giclée exhibition and a tasting of Jewish cuisine will mark the birthday of M. Chagall in Vitebsk

July 6, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Mark Chagall's birthday will be celebrated in Vitebsk on July 7 with an exhibition of giclees on canvas, a book presentation, and a tasting of Jewish cuisine, Director of the Mark Chagall Museum Larisa Khmelnitskaya told a BELTA correspondent. Despite the fact that the artist's official birthday is July 6, the master himself always celebrated it on July 7. "Apparently, the date 07.07.1887 attracted Marc Chagall with its magic, and it was inconvenient for us to hold his birthday on another day," explained Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya, commenting on the date discrepancy. The celebration will take place on Pokrovskaya Street, where Chagall was born and where his house-museum is now located. The program includes literary and art meetings "Visiting Marc and Bella," the opening of an exhibition by Israeli artist Malka Tsentziber "Spring Melodies," which includes 28 giclees on canvas – exclusive digital art reproductions of her works on canvas, which are not inferior to the originals in terms of execution quality and color rendition. Poet David Simanovich will present his book "Chagall's Violin, or His Soul Remained Here," and then guests of the celebration will be able to taste Jewish cuisine. Vitebsk Jewish music groups "Nashа pesnya" and "Aidishe neshomе" ("Jewish Soul") will entertain the guests. The organizers of the celebration are the Mark Chagall Museum, the Israeli Cultural and Information Center at the Embassy of Israel in Belarus, the Vitebsk Charitable Public Association "Chesed David," and the Vitebsk City Jewish Community. -0-
