It is unacceptable to emasculate the conceptual idea of the Customs Union - A. Lukashenko

March 30, Minsk / Vladimir Vasilkov - BELTA /. It is unacceptable to emasculate the conceptual idea of the Customs Union. This was stated today by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting in Minsk with State Secretary - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev, BELTA correspondent reports. "If we agreed on a conceptual provision - that a single, integral customs territory is being formed, then this means that no exceptions are permissible here - neither for sensitive trade positions nor for non-sensitive ones," the head of state emphasized. The Belarusian leader noted that in the issue of a single customs territory, Russia would be absurd to fear for its positions. "Do you really fear Belarus? Or does Russia fear Belarus? ... But Russia has a powerful market - do we need to be feared on such a scale?" Alexander Lukashenko said. The President stressed that in the matter of the Customs Union, it is necessary to move in the set direction. "Otherwise, it will turn out to be something similar to the CIS, EurAsEС - what we have already gone through," the head of state noted. Alexander Lukashenko, addressing the guest, said that he hoped to hear the frank position of the Kazakh side on the Customs Union issues. "How do you assess the activities of the Customs Union, what difficulties do you see?" the President asked Kanat Saudabayev. The Belarusian leader stated the existence of very good and warm relations between Belarus and Kazakhstan. "Kazakhstan is the main country in the Central Asian region. And it is not by chance that we are transferring our production to Kazakhstan - this is the key to mastering the markets of Central Asia. And you understand, you can count on very long-term cooperation with Belarus," Alexander Lukashenko assured. -0-
