Grain growers in the Vitebsk region have harvested the most significant crop in the last 30 years

The region is completing the harvest with good results - four districts of the region have threshed more than 100 thousand tons of grain from the breadfield. The milestone was surpassed by the grain growers of Orsha, Dubrovno, Verkhnedvinsk, and Tolochin districts. Moreover, three out of four (except for Orsha) harvested such a significant crop for the first time. Vitebsk district is also close to the coveted mark, having threshed about 97 thousand tons of grain.

"The total gross yield is over 1 million 400 thousand tons. We have practically never had such a harvest in our entire history. The yield of grain crops is more than 36 centners per hectare," stated the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev.

He emphasized that this is a very serious foundation, and it must be preserved in the future. "We are talking with the heads of the districts so that next year we do not fall behind, but lay the technological foundations for the future harvest in order to reach a gross yield of 1.5 million tons of grain," the head of the region shared his plans. He stressed that the increase should be achieved not by increasing the area, but by increasing the yield. "I think that 36 centners per hectare is not the limit, we can get 40 and more - we have such examples. There are farms in the region that harvest more than 80 centners," noted Nikolai Sherstnev.

"The most important thing that happened in the Vitebsk region is a moral restructuring, a reboot of personnel. They became convinced that in every district it is possible to obtain bread, feed, and everything else. All that makes up the final result. I am talking about the finances we receive from the sale of meat and milk," said the governor. - By harvesting a good crop, we create a basis for having meat and milk, and therefore money, thereby strengthening the teams and improving the well-being of our people."

According to the regional agricultural sales department, 99.9% of grain and leguminous crops have been harvested in the Vitebsk region. The region has threshed 1 million 430 thousand tons.

Today, Nikolai Sherstnev took part in a festive event dedicated to Knowledge Day at Secondary School No. 1 in Tolochin, which welcomed children after major repairs, and also familiarized himself with the progress of preparations for the regional "Dazhynki" festival.
