Vitebsk region grain growers harvested a third of the grain

Despite the regularly occurring rains in various districts, the region's grain growers continue the harvest.

As of the morning of August 2, according to the regional committee for agriculture and food, 110 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops have been threshed, which is almost a third of the target. The leaders in terms of pace are Verkhnedvinsky (48 percent), Miorsky (45.5), Sharkovshchinsky (40.8), and Braslavsky (40.7) districts, which are approaching the equator of the harvest. The best crop yield per hectare, with an average of 31.3 centners per hectare for the region, is achieved by grain growers in the main producing districts – Orshansky (38.3), as well as Verkhnedvinsky, Postavsky, Vitebsky, Dubrovensky, and Polotsky districts, which are threshing at least 35 centners. The target for grain supply for state needs has been fulfilled by a quarter – 28.8 thousand tons of grain are already in the granaries.

Flax growers also have their own harvest season. The technical crop has been pulled from 48 percent of the areas. 1.4 million tons of organic matter (63.6 percent) have been delivered to the fields for the 2020 harvest. The procurement of feed from second-cut grasses remains relevant. 12.04 centners of feed units have been stocked per conventional livestock unit, which is 2.17 centners higher than the republic's average.
