Marko Holding Produced its 55 Millionth Pair of Shoes
The holding company "Belarusian Leather and Footwear Company "Marko" today produced the 55 millionth pair of shoes in the 25th anniversary year of the management company.
The anniversary pair was a size 38 women's ankle boot from the Marko Trend collection for the autumn-winter season. This footwear will soon be available for sale in one of the stores in Belarus. A certificate is enclosed in the box of the 55 millionth pair, granting the lucky buyer the right to an additional free item of clothing.
"It is symbolic that this significant event took place in the workshop of the "Marko" management company itself, while the holding company includes four footwear enterprises. If we divide these 55 million pairs by 25 years, it amounts to slightly more than 2 million per year. However, it should be understood that in the early years, production was only 100-200 thousand pairs, and it grew steadily. Currently, we produce approximately 4 million pairs per year, and by 2018, we plan to reach 5 million," noted Nikolay Martynov, General Director of the holding's management company.
He added that the growth will be ensured by expanding production. For instance, production will soon be launched in the city of Beloozersk, Brest region, with a capacity of 1 million pairs per year. "In the next two years, we need to establish two enterprises – this includes the fur combine. And achieve profitable operation," Nikolay Martynov outlined the immediate plans.
This year, the "Marko" company will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a grand concert at the Summer Amphitheater on July 31. The enterprise has prepared gifts for all employees – sets of fashionable clothing. Nikolay Martynov admitted that he personally likes the gift – he participated in its selection. In addition to the four footwear companies, the holding includes the "Vitma" enterprise for the production of leather goods, a retail chain (with over 50 branded stores in Belarus alone), and the former "Vitebsk Fur Combine," which is still undergoing modernization. The holding's products are widely represented on domestic shelves and are actively exported. The main foreign market is Russia, with small supplies going to the Baltic states.
