The Pyatnitsky Choir will perform with pop stars for the first time at "Slavianski Bazaar"

July 13, Vitebsk / Eduard Pivovar - BELTA/. The XX International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" is preparing for a unique event in every sense. Late this evening, a famous ensemble with a century-long history, the Pyatnitsky State Academic Russian Folk Choir, will debut at the forum, a BELTA correspondent reports.

But it's not just about the world-renowned choir's first performance at the Vitebsk forum. For the sake of "Slavianski Bazaar," the ensemble's artists have undertaken a risky experiment. As the artistic director and director of the choir, People's Artist of Russia Alexandra Permyakova, told journalists, for the first time in its 100-year history, it will present a joint program with pop stars on the Summer Amphitheater stage. And for the first time, the two-hour program will consist entirely of Russian folk songs, with no author's works performed. "This concert is completely uncharacteristic for the Pyatnitsky Choir; we are interested in how the audience will receive it," noted Alexandra Permyakova.

The ensemble has been preparing very seriously for its performance at "Slavianski Bazaar": the program has been in development for several months. The pop artists who will take part in the concert – Larisa Dolina, the ensemble "Pesniary," Tamara Gverdtsiteli, Zara, Dmitry Pevtsov, Elena Vaenga, and others – have visited the choir multiple times, listened to its vast repertoire to choose a suitable song for themselves. Then, special arrangements were created, and joint rehearsals were held.

The concert at the Summer Amphitheater will conclude the celebrations dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Pyatnitsky Choir. This performance will also crown the program of Russia Day at the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk." -0-
