Farms in the Vitebsk region have started fodder harvesting

Farms in the Vitebsk region have begun fodder harvesting, a BELTA correspondent was informed by the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Agriculture and Food Department.

Gluboksky, Dubrovensky, and Tolochinsky districts are actively mowing grasses. Farms in other regions are carrying out the work selectively. Mass fodder harvesting will begin in the region in 2-3 days.

"Farms are tasked with obtaining high-quality fodder. To achieve this, it is important not to miss the deadlines, and to carry out the first grass mowing before June 10," the regional agricultural department emphasized.

Specialists noted that all farms must fully provide their existing livestock with their own fodder. This will help avoid the need to transport hay and silage during winter. For each conventional head of cattle, 30 centners of fodder units must be harvested. Of these, 16 centners should be from the first mowing.

"These plans are absolutely realistic. Good grasses have grown in the regions. If it doesn't rain, a sufficient and high-quality fodder base will be created in the region," specialists assured.
