Farms in the Vitebsk region intend to complete the sowing of winter crops within ten days

September 16, Vitebsk / Sergei Kochetov - BELTA /. Farms in the Vitebsk region have sown winter grain crops on 117 thousand hectares, which is about 61% of the planned area, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Agriculture and Food Department told a BELTA correspondent. Sowing work is nearing completion in the Orsha district, where as of September 16, about 80% of the area has been sown with winter crops. The farms of Chashniki (77%) and Beshenkovichi (76%) districts are slightly behind in terms of progress. In addition, 169 thousand hectares have been plowed for winter sowing in the region, which is 87% of the planned area. Given the favorable weather conditions, farms have been tasked with sowing all grain crops within 10 days. To achieve this, it is necessary to switch to a two-shift operation for high-power tractors, as well as to maximize the use of sowing units available in the region, including those from flax processing plants. The harvesting of spring rapeseed, which occupies over 19 thousand hectares of land, is also underway in the region. As of September 16, about 78% of the area has been harvested, yielding 18 thousand tons of oilseed. -0-
