Farms in the Vitebsk region have reached the equator of the haymaking season
June 16, Vitebsk / Sergei Kochetov - BELTA /. Farms in the Vitebsk region have reached the equator of mowing - according to operational data as of June 16, grass has been mowed on an area of over 125 thousand hectares with the first mowing, which is almost 46% of the target. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
In total, farms in the region are to mow over 275 thousand hectares of grass with the first mowing. As of June 16, grass has already been harvested from an area of over 94 thousand hectares. These works are being carried out most actively in the Polotsk district, where 63% of the area has been mowed against the target, as well as in Chashniksky (59.3%), Orshansky (55.5%), Verkhnedvinsky and Shumilinsky (52% each), Sharkovshchinsky (51.4%) and Dokshitsky (50.5%) districts. Due to weather conditions, the situation in the fields is difficult, with machinery operating only with tugs. Nevertheless, regardless of the conditions, all work must be completed within the established deadlines, specialists noted.
In total, almost 190 thousand tons of feed units have been harvested (31.6% of the target from the first mowing), or 4.11 centners of feed units per conventional head (an increase of 1.25 centners of feed units compared to the data for this period last year). Taking into account the weather conditions, feed harvesters are focusing on harvesting haylage and silage (614 thousand tons and 93 thousand tons, respectively), while only 324 tons of hay have been harvested.
According to the plan, farms in the region should harvest 1 million tons of feed units, including 600 thousand tons from the first mowing.
