Farms in the Vitebsk region have sown 27% of spring crops

April 23, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. Farms in the Vitebsk region have sown spring crops on an area of about 105 thousand hectares, which is 27% of the plan. In particular, spring grain crops already occupy almost 40% of the planned areas. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee. Farms in the Orsha district are carrying out the work at the highest pace, having already sown 73% of the areas, followed by Chashniksky (68%) and Dokshitsky (50%) districts. At the same time, in a number of western districts of the region, sowing is proceeding at a slower pace due to soil over-moistening. For example, in the Miory district, about 28% of the areas have been sown, in Verkhnedvinsk - 21.7%, in Sharkovshchina - 17.4%. The region has not yet managed to reach the maximum daily sowing rates: the potential of the farms allows for an increase of 15-16 thousand hectares daily, but in fact, no more than 12.5 thousand hectares are sown, the committee noted. Flax processing plants in the region are actively sowing flax, which occupies 670 hectares out of a target of 20 thousand hectares. Spring rapeseed has been sown on an area of over 1.3 thousand hectares, which is 5.7% of the plan. Farms are also carrying out undersowing of perennial grasses (29 thousand hectares, or 40% of the plan). In addition, the first top dressing of winter grain crops and rapeseed is being completed, and in some districts, farms are already starting the second top dressing of winter crops with nitrogen fertilizers. -0-
