Farms in the Vitebsk region have started sowing spring rapeseed
April 16, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA /. Farms in the Vitebsk region have started sowing spring rapeseed, the Agriculture and Food Committee of the regional executive committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
As of April 16, the oilseed crop has been sown on an area of 230 hectares in the Postavy, Vitebsk and Sennno districts. This year, over 24.5 thousand hectares have been allocated for spring rapeseed sowing.
In total, spring crops have been sown on an area of over 39 thousand hectares, which is more than 10% of the plan, including over 37 thousand hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops, or 15% of the target. The pace of sowing operations is gradually increasing. Thus, on April 15, about 8.5 thousand hectares were sown, and to complete the work within the optimal timeframe, it is necessary to achieve a daily increase of 15-16 thousand hectares, the committee noted. All districts of the region have started sowing, with farms in Orsha (4.9 thousand hectares sown, or about 18% of the plan), Vitebsk (3.1 thousand hectares, 11.4%), Tolochin (2.7 thousand hectares, 9.8%) and Chashniki (2.5 thousand hectares, 17.9%) districts leading the way. In total, over 800 combined units have been prepared for the work, but due to soil conditions, only about 60% have been put into operation so far.
Farms in the region continue to apply potash and phosphorus fertilizers, as well as prepare the soil. In total, about 66% of the areas under winter grain crops, over 50% under winter cruciferous crops, 47% of perennial grass sowings, as well as 34% of hayfields and pastures have been top-dressed. In selected districts, sowing of peas, carrots and beets has begun, and in the coming days, farms plan to start sowing flax, the committee added. -0-
