Farms in the Vitebsk region have sown about 95% of the planned areas with winter crops

September 29, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. Farms in the Vitebsk region have sown about 183 thousand hectares with winter grain crops, which is 95% of the planned area, the Agriculture and Food Committee of the regional executive committee informed a BELTA correspondent. The established rainy weather has affected the pace of sowing, however, most farms intend to complete the main work by October 1. This will allow a full switch to plowing the fallow land for next year's harvest and harvesting corn for feed. The region needs to plow more than 350 thousand hectares of fallow land. Work in this direction is already underway, and switching equipment from sowing to plowing (this is about 400 energy-intensive tractors and other types of machinery and equipment) will significantly accelerate the preparation of land for spring field work. In the Vitebsk region, corn has been harvested from an area of about 33 thousand hectares, which is 41% of the plan, with a yield of 250 centners per hectare (this is 25% higher than last year's figure). -0-
