The Vitebsk Region Economic Court held its first interactive court hearing in the periphery

October 5, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The Economic Court of the Vitebsk Region held its first interactive court hearing using a video conferencing system based at a district executive committee, Judge of the Economic Court of the Vitebsk Region Olga Gatilo told a BELTA correspondent. The Supreme Economic Court of Belarus initiated the organization of video conferencing based at district executive committees, the interlocutor explained. In the Vitebsk Region, the first such system was launched at the Rossony District Executive Committee, which made it possible to hold a remote hearing, in which the judge and the plaintiff were in different settlements: the judge was in Vitebsk, and the plaintiff, who filed a claim for the issuance of an enforcement order for the compulsory execution of the decision of the Arbitration Commission, was in Rossony. Modern technical means made it possible to reduce the time for holding a court hearing and save the applicant money on business trip expenses. With the development of the video conferencing system, such practice will only expand, the court representative emphasized. In the Economic Court of the Vitebsk Region, as in the economic justice system of Belarus as a whole, the development of information technology systems is in line with global trends, and today the use of the "Video Conferencing" system within the judicial system is already an established practice. In January-September 2012, the Economic Court of the Vitebsk Region held 162 hearings in the video conferencing format, including 7 hearings in administrative proceedings, 137 hearings in claim proceedings, and 18 cases were considered in the appellate instance. -0-
