'For Safety Together': A practical seminar for occupational safety and fire safety specialists was held in Vitebsk

On September 15, 2017, the Education Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, based at the safety center of the institution "Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations," held a practical seminar "Prevention of Injuries and Deaths from External Causes" for specialists in labor protection and fire safety of the region's education, sports, and tourism departments.

The seminar opened with a tour of the safety center with practical elements, conducted by the center's inspector, Andrey Zhukov.

Seminar participants familiarized themselves with the center's hardware and software complex and had the opportunity to work on simulator trainers, which are used to practice practical skills in rescuing people, using primary fire extinguishing equipment, calling emergency services, and evacuating from a smoke-filled room.

The joint work of the Education Department with other regional departments and structures (Ministry of Emergency Situations Department, Healthcare Department, Department of State Labor Inspectorate Department, Internal Affairs Directorate, etc.) has long been a tradition and yields results in solving important issues.

As Marina Korunnaya, a leading specialist of the Education Department, noted in her speech: "Ensuring safety is a set of measures to create conditions that ensure the preservation of the life and health of pupils, students, and employees, which should be carried out through the joint efforts of all interested prevention subjects."

Alexander Sychev, head of the supervision and prevention department of the institution "Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations," spoke about the prevention of fires and other emergencies at educational facilities and in everyday life, and also conducted training on actions in case of their occurrence.

Oleg Berezyak, Chief State Labor Inspector of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Department of State Labor Inspectorate, analyzed the state of industrial injuries in the Vitebsk region and the main causes of accidents occurring with workers, and outlined a number of

measures necessary to improve working conditions and reduce workplace injuries.

Summing up the seminar, the chief specialist of the education department, Sviatoslav Rachinsky, pointed out the need to improve the system of safety training, paying attention to the practical orientation of preventive measures, strengthening labor discipline, and increasing responsibility for ensuring safe conditions in educational institutions.

The department plans to continue the practice of holding seminars and practical training sessions at the safety center of the institution "Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations" with other categories of education workers in the region.
