Today's meeting of the regional headquarters for combating the spread of COVID-19, held on April 5 and chaired by Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev, began with information from Nikolai Kaspirovich, Deputy Head of the Main Department for Healthcare of the Regional Executive Committee, on the changes in the situation over the past day.
-- The situation is quite serious, -- he said. -- In the Vitebsk region, there is an increase in ARVI incidence by 16.4 percent, in the city of Vitebsk – by 27.6 percent, in Novopolotsk – by 28 percent. There are settlements and cities where a decrease is noted. Over the past day, 5 new confirmed cases of coronavirus infection have been registered. There are analyses that are still being processed. There were no deaths from COVID-19 in the past day.
He appealed to all medical workers with a request to be very attentive to the performance of prescribed sanitary and hygienic rules at their workplaces. Nikolai Kaspirovich also strongly recommended that residents of the region take care of their safety and the safety of their loved ones, and in connection with the warm weather, not to travel outside the city for picnics. In this situation, the correct course of action is to stay at home, minimizing all contacts and movements.
