Vitebsk Residents Join Labor Campaigns. The Most Large-Scale Event Was the May Day Event in the Pervomaisky District of the City.

Vitebsk residents joined the improvement of territories near the summer stage next to Children's Art School No. 3 "Maladik". The park area was put in order, where, as explained in the district administration, new benches and urns were installed on the eve of the May Day event, and nearby courtyards were not overlooked.

"The slogan "Peace! Labor! May!" is very close to me, I was born in the USSR. This is truly a holiday, my youth, demonstrations, solidarity, friendship - a wonderful holiday for all times! I believe that such holidays should exist, they are very necessary, and people should communicate, because labor always unites," shared Natalia Beletskaya. Together with her granddaughter Ulyana, they took up paint and brushes. The almost seven-year-old girl is a first-grader at Vitebsk Secondary School No. 12 named after L.N. Filipenko. Distracted from work for a second, she businesslike explained her choice: "I attend a drawing club." And imperturbably continued to refresh a bench in one of the courtyards adjacent to her grandmother's house.

The labor brigades included representatives of the district administration, public associations, educational institutions, party leaders, deputies of various levels, and ordinary local residents. Those registered with the criminal executive inspection of the district police department were also involved in the work. The hockey rink in one of the courtyards, which is particularly popular with local schoolchildren, students, and others, was also renovated.

"Last year, we worked on May 1st on 5th Kommunalnaya Street, this time we decided to help here. The atmosphere is wonderful: everyone is working, cleaning up, we came out as a whole team - it's fun. Some with children and grandchildren. I think a ten-year-old child can already be safely involved in labor, even earlier - it disciplines," said Natalia Volkova, an accountant at the Pervomaisky Territorial Center for Social Services.

The famous phrase from "Prostokvashino" that joint labor unites is more relevant than ever today, asserts Nikolai Tovpenets. He worked as a driver all his life, and when he retired, he got a job as a groundskeeper at Gymnasium No. 8. He says that work itself doesn't let go. "Everyone is in great spirits. And everyone understands: we need to help each other, do something for the common good. We constantly help clean the grounds, rake leaves, and maintain cleanliness. We're even opening the dacha season with my wife while we prepare the plot for planting. We need to mow the grass, plant potatoes, and trees – there's a lot of work."

The May Day celebration in the Pervomaysky district gathered over 300 people, and the event itself attracted over 1,000 residents. To ensure that work went smoothly, that the workers maintained a good mood, and that families had something to entertain their little ones with, a concert program and various activities were organized here. Creative surprises were prepared by the district's collectives and the Territorial Center for Social Services. Children could expect master classes, a chalk drawing contest, an ecological quest, and interactive playgrounds from the State Automobile Inspectorate, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the Belarusian Voluntary Society of Rescuers and Firefighters, among others. For those who wished to refresh themselves, mobile trade was available on site.

Yauheni Semenycheu, Head of the Administration of Pervomaysky District of Vitebsk, noted that the tradition was revived here not by chance – the clue lies in the very name of the district. "For the second year in a row, on May 1, we gather at significant sites that require attention and improvement, not just to joyfully celebrate the Labor Day, but also to put things in order. Last year, the teams and residents of our district worked in the Park of the 30th Anniversary of the Komsomol; this time, we tidied it up during the community clean-up days. Now, the territories near Children's Art School No. 3 "Maladik" have become the focus of our attention. It is worth remembering that order in any yard depends on each of us. We call on all residents to maintain cleanliness, join labor campaigns, because together we can always make our district and city cleaner. And for children, this is a good example of how to appreciate what we have, to take care of our home, district, city, region, and the entire country as a whole," he said.

Labor campaigns are taking place throughout Vitebsk today. And the spring-summer season is opening in parks and recreation areas. In particular, at the Soviet Army Cultural and Recreational Complex, guests are invited to enjoy a concert, join games and exciting entertainment, and visit attractions. Active recreation enthusiasts can enjoy rollerblading, cycling, and more by renting sports equipment.
