Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Subbotin visited innovative agricultural facilities in the Orsha district

Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Subbotin visited innovative agro-industrial facilities under construction in the Orsha district today.

The Deputy Prime Minister familiarized himself with the final commissioning works at the dairy plant in Orsha. He also visited two innovative facilities of RUP "Ustye" NAS of Belarus": a dairy farm for 1,000 dairy cows with a closed cycle and a center for preparing crop seeds. "These facilities are important not only for the region but also for the country. They are all at a high degree of readiness. For example, the farm for 1,000 heads. It incorporates the best practices that can be implemented in animal husbandry, feeding, and milk production systems. This includes a 'carousel' type milking parlor for 40 cows, which has no analogues in our country. The operation of the complex will be a unique experience that can be shared," noted Alexander Subbotin.

Scientists have proposed breeding a special breed of cow – the red breed – on the farm. These animals have advantages: their milk is richer in fat, and they are more resistant to diseases. In addition, there are scientific publications indicating that the milk of these cows can be consumed by people with lactose intolerance. "They will try to breed the red cow breed here. Possibly, in the future, separate farms for these animals will be established in Belarus," added the Deputy Prime Minister.

Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Boris Efremov added that 10 new dairy farms are currently under construction in the region. By 2025, the region intends to build about 20 more such complexes, each for 1,000 or more dairy cows.

The second modern facility is a seed complex with domestic equipment. It is planned to produce about 6.5 thousand tons of products annually. "This is the golden reserve of the agricultural sector. Elite mother seeds will be produced here," said Alexander Subbotin. In essence, the complex will also serve as a scientific and practical center where seeds will be tested and then replicated throughout the country.
