The fuel reserve for the upcoming heating season must be created by July 1

The stock of local fuel types for the upcoming heating season in the Vitebsk region must be created by July 1. This task was set today at a meeting of the regional executive committee, where the results of the 2012/2013 heating period and tasks for the future heating season were discussed, by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets, reports a BELTA correspondent.

The head of the region emphasized that by July 1, all boiler houses must be brought into proper technical condition. The strict deadlines are due to the need to ensure the efficient use of thermal equipment and minimize heat losses at sources and in networks.

The housing and communal services of the Vitebsk region incurred losses of Br13 billion in the past heating period, as reported at the meeting by the Chairman of the Economics Committee of the Regional Executive Committee, Svyatoslav Zarovsky. He stressed that local fuel types in the regions are procured untimely, and special storage facilities for firewood and briquettes are not equipped. "Fuel gets wet in the rain or is brought to boiler houses directly from the forest. Humidity reduces the quality of firewood and briquettes. The process of burning them is more like disposal," said Svyatoslav Zarovsky.

In this regard, the head of the region demanded to strengthen control over the quality of fuel and intensify work on its procurement. Alexander Kosinets specifically emphasized that in the Year of Thrift, budget funds and citizens' money, which they diligently pay for housing and communal services, must be spent thriftily. The head of the region also drew attention to the need to intensify work on repairing the roofs of apartment buildings.
