The market must be protected by intellect, innovation, and the creation of liquid products - A. Kosinets

June 28, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The Vitebsk region, which directly borders Russia and maintains close economic ties with its regions, will be among the first to note both the positive and negative aspects of Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization. This was stated today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by its chairman, Alexander Kosinets, according to a BELTA correspondent. The governor noted that in this regard, the work of enterprises in the light industry, machine building, and radio electronics will require special attention. By order of Alexander Kosinets, a special commission will be created under the Regional Executive Committee to analyze the export-import activities of enterprises and organizations in the region and develop proposals for their work in the new economic conditions. The focus will primarily be on the development of new technologies and in-depth processing of raw materials. "We need to protect the market with intellect, innovation, and the creation of liquid products," the governor emphasized. Based on the results of five months, communal enterprises of the region increased exports of goods, excluding oil and oil products, by 5.3 times compared to January-May 2011. The annual target for ensuring a positive balance has been overfulfilled by almost three times and reached $944 million for the five-month period. -0-
